Key Design & Exterior Features (U.S. Spec):

Iconic Box-on-Wheels Design: Bold, upright stance with a wide body, short overhangs, and distinctive two-tone color options.

LED Lighting: LED headlights and taillights were standard on most trims. The unique “tiger-nose” grille design was integrated into the front fascia.

Two-Tone Roof: Available in contrasting colors (like black or white) on higher trims for a custom look.

Wheel Options: Ranged from 16-inch steel wheels (base) to 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels on higher trims.

C-Pillar “Soul Badge”: A signature design element where the model name is embossed on the rear pillar.

Interior & Comfort Features:

Spacious & Functional Cabin: Class-leading headroom and legroom. High-quality materials with soft-touch surfaces on the dashboard and doors.

Infotainment System:

Standard Display: A 7-inch touchscreen audio display on lower trims.

Upgraded Display: 10.25-inch widescreen touchscreen with navigation available on EX and GT-Line trims.

Audio: Standard 6-speaker system. A premium Harmon Kardon® audio system with an external amplifier and mood lighting was an available option on the EX trim.

Connectivity: Standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ across all trims. USB ports (front and rear). Available wireless charging pad.

Instrument Cluster: A Supervision LCD cluster with a large color display between analog gauges (or a full digital cluster on higher trims).

Seating: Cloth or available leather-trimmed seats. Heated and ventilated front seats were available on the EX trim. Heated steering wheel was also available.

Cargo Space: 24.2 cu.ft. behind the rear seats, expanding to 62.1 cu.ft. with the 60/40 split-folding rear seats folded flat – one of the largest in its class.

Performance & Powertrain (U.S. Options):

CRITICAL NOTE: The U.S. market had three distinct engine choices, which is a major selling point.

Base Engine: 2.0-liter MPI 4-cylinder “Nu” engine.

Horsepower: 147 hp @ 6,200 rpm

Torque: 132 lb-ft @ 4,500 rpm

Transmission: Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) – Kia’s name for a smooth continuously variable transmission (CVT). Standard on LX, S, and X-Line trims.

Upgraded Engine: 1.6-liter T-GDi 4-cylinder Turbo engine.

Horsepower: 201 hp @ 6,000 rpm

Torque: 195 lb-ft @ 1,500 – 4,500 rpm

Transmission: 7-Speed EcoShift Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT). Standard on the GT-Line Turbo trim. This gave the Soul a sporty, peppy performance.

EV Variant: Soul EV (e-Soul).

A fully electric version with a 64 kWh battery and an estimated 243 miles of range. This is a completely different model.

Drivetrain: Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) only for all gasoline models in the U.S.

Safety & Driver Assistance:

Kia’s “Drive Wise” suite of advanced driver-assistance features was available or standard.

Standard on most trims: Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), 6 Airbags.
